The Department for Education and Employment has released more than £20m to drive forward a renewed national campaign to reduce the number of adults with low levels of literacy and numeracy. We are in the forefront of many of these develoments - and need to maintain this momentum if we are to halve the adult need in Birmingham from more than 140,000 to less than 70,000 within 10 years. Did You Know...? There are an estimated 140,000 adults in Birmingham with low levels of basic skills. This is not just an individual issue for them, it’s a social issue for the city.
