| The Partnership is managing a three year set of developments on behalf of the six local Learning and Skills councils in the region. These developments are supporting the professional development of adult basic skills teachers in colleges, adult education services, workplace training providers, voluntary organisations etc.
Part of this £3m Advantage West Midlands development will establish basic skills professional development centres in each area. Four are already operational. These include two in Birmingham - one with a particular additional focus on strengthening the capacity of voluntary and community organisations, and one that is a professional development base for family literacy, language and numeracy.
Each of the centres will act as a focus for staff development information and opportunities, and the whole activity supports the wider push to increase the ability of providers to deliver the national adult Skills for Life agenda.
