Pupils
- Do you talk to your parents/carer about your schoolwork?
- Do you ask for help when you need it?
- Do you know the most appropriate way to ask for attention?
- Do you use the public library, school library
- for enjoyment?
- for homework?
- Do you enjoy reading books, papers, magazines or comics? Do you read every day?
- Do you collect things? (e.g. football cards) Is your collection organised properly so that it can be shown to others?
- Do you do homework when it is set?
- Do you attend school when you should?
- Are you on time?
- Do you bring all your equipment for literacy lessons when you are supposed to?
- Do you talk to others about what you have read / written and what you are about to read and write?
- Do you look at and learn from the displays in classrooms and corridors
- Teachers: your marking policy and practice will have an impact on the responses to the following questions
- Do you talk to your teacher, regularly, about your progress?
- Do you look at marked work and know what to do next?
- Do you know what you can do in English? What evidence do you have to prove this? e.g.
- marked work
- comments from teachers
- Do you know what your teacher expects of you
- by the end of term?
