Whole School
- Is raising standards in boys Literacy a priority for your school?
- Is raising boys achievement an issue on the governors agenda?
- Is there an understanding throughout the school of equal opportunities and the impact that equal opportunities practice can have on achievement?
- Do all policies include an equal opportunities statement?
- Is there an awareness of the importance of self-esteem in raising standards?
- Do you have statistical evidence of achievement of different groups e.g. ethnicity / gender/ age, across the subjects and particularly in Literacy?
- Do all those responsible for teaching and learning within the school contribute to the data and do they understand and take responsibility for its generation and analysis?
- Is there discussion and questioning, about the data, involving all those involved in teaching and learning?
- In what way does the information from your data analysis inform development planning and policy making?
- Do all polices reflect and support the school ethos?
- Are key policies put into practice? (How do you know?)
- Do you capitalise on the opportunities that other subjects provide for developing Literacy skills?
- Are key policies owned, implemented and reviewed by everyone? (everyone should include governors, all staff and representatives of all stakeholders in the school).
N.B. Key policies should take account of the need to raise boys achievement
- How are the school aims reviewed along with the development plan? This should be done at least annually
- How is data shared with pupils and parents/carers
